Our Drivers:
At Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services, our commitment to the highest safety standards is evident in our driver screening and training procedures. Prior to hiring a potential driver, we verify the current validity of his or her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Possession of a current CDL certifies that the driver has undergone state-regulated training and evaluation, including expert knowledge of the vehicles he or she drives and a thorough understanding of safety procedures and defensive driving habits. The driver must have no negative points on his or her license, and must possess a valid DOT medical examination card.
Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services maintains a strict zero tolerance policy on drug and alcohol abuse. All applicants for employment must undergo DOT-regulated drug and alcohol screening prior to any offer of employment. Once employed, all drivers are subject to ongoing random DOT-regulated drug and alcohol screening as long as they are employed with Blue Ridge.
Once the applicant receives a negative result on his or her drug and alcohol screening, the applicant is subjected to a road test by our Tech Support Manager, who evaluates the driver’s safety, conscientiousness, knowledge of vehicle and the roads, and professional attitude. If the driver is approved for employment, his or her performance is closely monitored for the first 90 days, at which point he or she is called into the office for a second interview and a final decision is made on his or her continued employment.
This rigorous approach has proven successful by our low turnover of employees, some of whom have been with us since the inception of our company in 1991. Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services have the utmost confidence that our professional drivers are the best in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. World leaders, VIPs, international corporations, churches, schools, and families have trusted our drivers to get them where they need to go, and not a single passenger has ever been let down.

Shuttle Operations
At Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services shuttles are our main business. We know that training, oversight and preparedness are the keys to a top-notch shuttle operation. Therefore, at all locations with more than one vehicle, we designate the most experienced and responsible driver at that location to be the On-Site Coordinator. The On-Site Coordinator manages operations at the location and reports directly to upper management on any issues that arise. He or she oversees training and continually monitors drivers on their driving skills and professional demeanor.
These On-Site Coordinators arrive at least one hour before the shuttle starts and make sure that all drivers report on time. If any driver is late or absent, the Coordinator is ready to take over the route and get it started on time. Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services also maintains up to 5 additional swing drivers throughout the company on any given day, which means that we are always ready for unforeseen circumstances.
In addition, Blue Ridge Transportation and Shuttle Services maintain 5 backup vehicles at all times in case of break downs or mechanical problems. With these backup plans in place, we can guarantee the most reliable shuttle operation in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
